Frequently asked questions
Questions about accounts, uploads, pricing, accuracy and how MicroTools Hub works. For a question about one specific tool, see the FAQ section on that tool's page.
Do I need an account?
No. Every tool works without signing up, logging in or giving an email address.
Are my files uploaded?
No. PDF merge, split and compress, image to text, the thesis checker, the planners and all calculators run in your browser, so your files, images and text are not uploaded.
Which files are supported?
PDF files for the PDF tools, JPG, PNG and WebP images for image to text, and DOCX for the thesis format checker.
Is it really free?
Yes. The site is intended to be supported by advertising later. Ads are currently off and will never block the tools.
Is anything saved?
Three tools save automatically, in your own browser: the focus timer, the Eisenhower matrix and the deadline tracker. Seven more keep something only if you press their Save button: the grade calculator, roommate splitter, citation generator's bibliography, study schedule planner, time block planner, reading goal planner and the assignment readiness checker's requirements (never your file or your name). Your light or dark choice is also remembered. Nothing is sent to us, and every item can be deleted from the tool or from the Cookies page. Looking up a DOI or ISBN in the citation generator contacts Crossref or Open Library.
How accurate are the citation styles?
The citation generator follows the published APA 7, MLA 9 and Chicago rules. It never invents missing details: a missing author, date or publisher is flagged so you can fill it in, rather than guessed.
Does the site use AI?
No. Every tool runs on fixed, testable logic (grade formulas, citation style rules, page-count estimates, PDF operations), not an AI model, so the same input always gives the same result.
Can I use this on my phone?
Yes. Every tool is responsive and works on a phone or tablet browser, though PDF and OCR tools are easier to use on a larger screen.
Who do I contact about an error?
Use the contact page to report a wrong calculation, a formatting mistake in a guide, or a bug. Reports are reviewed and fixed personally.
Will this site always be free?
Yes, the tools themselves will always be free to use. Advertising may be added later to cover hosting costs, kept away from tool controls and results.
