Assignment Submission Readiness Checker
Choose your assignment file, then type in the rules from your brief: the word limit, the sections you must include, the citation format, the file type and any formatting rules. The checker reads the file in your browser and compares it with those rules. Every result says what it checked, what it found and why, and is marked as verified, needs attention, needs your judgement, or not possible for that file type. Each problem links to the tool that helps fix it. It does not check plagiarism, mark quality, or promise acceptance.
Your file is read in your browser and never uploaded. Optional saved requirements stay on this device, and the file, its text and the name you type are never saved.
1. Choose your document
Drop your assignment here or
Word, PDF or plain text. Your original file is never changed.
2. Enter the requirements from your brief
Fill in only what applies. The tool cannot read your brief for you, so copy the important rules into these boxes. Anything left blank is skipped and shown as not applicable.
Length
Structure and citations
Separate accepted alternatives with “|”, for example: Methods | Methodology.
MLA (Smith 45) and footnote styles cannot be matched by this tool.
File, formatting and anonymous marking
Separate several with commas, for example your module code.
Stays on this page. It is never saved, even when you save your requirements.
Your own checklist items
These are manual. The tool cannot verify them.
3. Your report
Choose a document to see your report. Changing a requirement updates the report straight away.
How it works
- Choose a .docx, PDF or .txt file. Nothing is uploaded.
- Enter the rules from your brief: limits, sections, citation format, file rules and formatting. Leave out anything that does not apply.
- Read the report. Fix the items marked Needs attention, decide the items marked Manual review, and open the linked tool for each problem.
- Choose the corrected file to check again, then work through the checklist that only you can confirm, and print or copy the report.
Options explained
- Statuses
- Verified pass means the file itself shows the rule is met. Needs attention means the file shows it is not. Manual review means the tool found something it cannot decide or is too close to call. Unsupported means that file type cannot show it. Not applicable means you did not ask for it.
- Excluding parts from the word count
- The reference list and appendices are found by their headings. Headings and tables can be excluded only for Word files, where they are marked in the file. In-text citations are removed by pattern.
- Citation format
- Author–year such as (Smith, 2020) and numbered such as [1] can be matched against the reference list. Styles that cite a page, such as MLA (Smith 45), and footnote styles cannot be matched.
- Name and student number
- Type them to search the text, headers, footers, footnotes and document properties of a Word file. They are used on this page only and never saved.
How the result is worked out
- Words are counted the way the Word Counter counts them. The tool shows the total, the main text, the reference list and the appendices so you can see how the number was reached.
- A count within 2% (5% for a PDF) or 10 words of a limit is sent to manual review, because Word, Google Docs and your institution can count slightly differently.
- Citations are matched to reference entries by first author's surname and year. Ambiguous or uncertain matches, such as abbreviations, several works by one author in a year or secondary sources, go to manual review instead of being called errors.
- Formatting is read from the Word file's own settings where they can be read. A PDF only gives page size, approximate margins and text size. Plain text has no formatting.
Example
A report must be 1,500 to 2,000 words excluding references, with Introduction, Methods and Conclusion sections and author–year citations. The checker counts 1,942 words in the main text, finds all three headings, matches 14 of 14 citations to the reference list and finds one reference never cited. It marks the word count and sections as verified, the uncited reference as needing attention, and leaves the title page for you to confirm.
Tips for better results
- Copy the rules from your brief into the boxes before you choose the file, so the report is built around what your marker asked for.
- Check the file you will actually upload, in the format you will upload it. A PDF exported from Word can differ from the Word file.
- Treat Manual review items as questions to answer, not as problems: open the file and decide.
- Run it once early and once on the final file. Fixing a missing section is easier than fixing it the night before.
Limitations
- It does not check plagiarism or originality, and it does not judge argument, writing quality or whether the content answers the question.
- It cannot read your brief. You enter the rules, and anything it cannot verify is shown as a manual check.
- Scanned PDFs and PDFs made of images have no readable text, so the text checks are not possible. Old .doc files are not supported.
- A passing result is not a promise that the work will be accepted or marked well. Always open the final file yourself before you submit.

Frequently asked questions
Does it upload my assignment?
No. The file is read in your browser and released when you remove it, clear the report or close the page. Nothing about it is sent to a server, and there is no AI service involved.
Does it check for plagiarism or AI-written text?
No. Plagiarism and originality checks need databases this tool does not have, and it makes no attempt to detect AI writing.
Why is a result marked manual review?
Because the tool found something it cannot decide for you, such as a title page, a word count close to the limit, or a citation that could match more than one reference.
Does a name not being found mean my work is anonymous?
No. The tool searches the readable text and the Word file's properties for the name you give. Images, text boxes, scans and file names can still identify you, so it always asks you to look yourself.
Is anything saved?
Only if you press Save: your requirements, never the file, its text or your name and number. You can delete them at any time.
